At New Century School we have several committees that are led by parents. Each of these committees works to enhance students learning at NCS by engaging in discussions and organizing activities related to its specific charge. The following is an outline of our committees.
- Communications Committee: This committee keeps our school community humming, both by recruiting volunteers from among current families, and spreading the word about our wonderful school to prospective new families.
- Fundraising Committee: We hold a variety of fundraisers to support the creative and engaging work of our teachers and staff. Fundraising leaders coordinate one event start to finish. Our committee chairs will be happy to share details about any particular fundraising event.
Special Events Committee: We want all of our families to have opportunities to get to know each other and build our community. Throughout the year we have family social events where folks can mingle, younger siblings can meet future classmates, and families can put faces to names of who their kiddos eat lunch with every day! These fun events typically take place in the evenings or on weekends.
School Governance: Our Site Council consists of parents, staff, and community members and is the primary governing and policy making body for our school. Our charter with the VASD is held by our 501c3 non-profit group, which is led by a board comprised of parents and staff. These two groups participate in budget development, staff hiring committees, and program development for our school.
